By God and For God!: TRAINING TIME #5

The video below was made for the children's ministry workers.
After reading Pastor Duke's notes for this Sunday.  I thought it would be helpful for Soul Care leaders also.  Italicized statements are specific for Soul Care leaders.

The training activity is at the end of this post!

As a child of God, my only job is to worship Him and help others see His beauty and saving grace.  our job is to reflect His glory so people SEE HIM.

Training Time #5

"Worship is thinking on purpose, with a genuine heart interest and knowledge about God."

Take five minutes looking at God alone, giving all glory and worship to Him.  Use this time to list as many attributes as you can remember, His creations and His names.

The writer of Teaching Kids Authentic Worship writes "The first time I tried this exercise, I failed miserably...  I confess, I ran out of things to say before my five minute timer sounded.  In fact my mind had already wandered to the [other things and tasks to do]."

The specific training time is to do this once!
Email me after you have spent your five minutes writing things down.
Feel free to share things you were challenged with as it relates to issue of leadership or personal growth.

However, I would encourage you to take regular, planned times to do this.

The next training time is going to be on Transparency When Leading a Group!

PLEASE BE SURE TO READ ALL OF THIS NOTE:
ONLINE TRAINING
The online training has not been as effective as I thought.
I still believe it is the best way to get do training but we need to think about how to do this the best way possible.

THANK YOU to everyone who sent in their list of regular attenders.
THOSE WHO HAVEN’T SENT THEIR NAMES YET please do so as soon as possible.  This would be very helpful in evaluation      promotion and planning.

· Concession stand:  One or multiple Saturday morning.  Great Soul Care group project.  Soul Care group members could work shifts or plan to be there for the whole Saturday morning.  The first week of the concession will be February 8th and run through every weekend through April 12th.

WEEK NIGHT UPWARD MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
· Practice site people:  Greeting and talking with families at practice.  After the first two nights of practice, I realized what a great opportunity there is every night of practice and game day.  On the practice nights, many of the parents wait at the gym.  It is a great opportunity to talk with parents.  Many of them are very open to talking.

OTHER UPWARD MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
· Host families:  We need to families to adopt each of the 20 teams.  This involves praying for and encouraging the team and coach.  We want UPWARD to be much more than a basketball league.  If that is going to happen more and more people need to get involved at many different levels.

SOUL CARE:  Think about ways to grow EBC’s Soul Care ministry.  The beginning of the year is a great opportunity to invite and encourage people to join your group.

MISSIONS:  Involvement in March missions conference and increased giving to missions offering.
